AI Disclosure

Last updated: October 29, 2026

If a Mebot contacted you
  • You were talking to an AI, not a person. It acts for the person who owns it.
  • Its voice and face may be an AI-generated copy of its owner's, made with the owner's consent.
  • To stop texts, reply STOP. To stop calls, email support@mebot.ai with your number. Details below.

1. What a Mebot is

A Mebot is an AI version of a real person (its "owner"), made with Mebot Selfware by Mebot AI Corp. It learns from what its owner gives it and answers in the owner's style. It can chat in text, speak with an AI-generated voice, appear as a video avatar, join video meetings, and, if its owner turns it on, make and answer phone calls and send texts.

A Mebot is not its owner. It can be wrong about facts and about what its owner thinks, and a commitment it makes may need its owner's confirmation.

2. How a Mebot identifies itself

A Mebot tells you it is an AI and whose it is, at the start of the interaction:

Mebot owners agree in our Terms of Service not to remove this disclosure or tell their Mebot to claim it is human. If you ever think a Mebot did not identify itself as an AI, please tell us.

3. Calls and texts from a Mebot

Calls from a Mebot use an artificial, AI-generated voice, which may be a copy of its owner's voice made with the owner's consent. The call is placed from a phone number assigned to the owner's Mebot.

What you say on a call is transcribed into text as you speak, so the Mebot can reply. The call audio is not recorded, but the transcript, and any texts you exchange, are kept in the owner's account so the owner can see what was said. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle this and how you can ask us to access or delete information about you.

4. How to stop calls and texts from a Mebot

Asking us to stop does not cost anything, and we never use your request to contact you about anything else.

5. Mebots in meetings

A Mebot meeting bot joins a meeting only when its owner sends it. It can transcribe the meeting and, depending on the owner's settings, record it. The transcript is kept in the owner's account. Owners agree to tell meeting participants about the bot and to get consent where the law requires it. If you don't want a Mebot in a meeting, ask the host to remove it.

6. Video avatars

A Mebot's video avatar is AI-generated video, made from images and video its owner provided of themselves. During a video conversation, the avatar provider may analyse your camera image (and your screen, if you share it), including facial expressions and apparent emotional state, so the avatar can respond naturally. This analysis is used only during that conversation. It is not used to identify you, and owners can turn camera perception off. Mebot does not create voiceprints or face templates to recognise the people its users talk to.

7. Limits of AI

Mebots run on AI language, voice and video models. They can produce mistakes, misunderstand questions, and state wrong things confidently. Don't treat anything a Mebot says as professional advice, and check anything important with its owner directly.
